We enrolled 136 school-aged children (intellectual quotient ≥ 50) and their parents and administered QOL questionnaires to assess the maladaptive behavior of the children; depression, anxiety, and stress of the parents; and activities of their daily lives. The relationship between their QOL and clinical features was examined. The decrease in QOL of children and parents was associated with the mother’s limited job flexibility. In this study, we assess the feasibility of quantitative, non-invasive, frequency-domain diffuse optical spectroscopy (FD-DOS) neuromonitoring during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and its predictive utility for return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) in an established pediatric swine model of cardiac arrest. Cerebral tissue optical properties, oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin concentration ([HbO2], [Hb]), oxygen saturation (StO2) and total hemoglobin concentration (THC) were measured by a FD-DOS probe placed on the forehead in 1-month-old swine (8-11 kg; n = 52) during seven minutes of asphyxiation followed by twenty minutes of CPR. ROSC prediction and time-dependent performance of prediction throughout early CPR ( less then  10 min), were assessed by the weighted Youden index (Jw, w = 0.1) with tenfold cross-validation. FD-DOS CPR data was successfully acquired in 48/52 animals; 37/48 achieved ROSC. Changes in scattering coefficient (785 nm), [HbO2], StO2 and THC from baseline were significantly different in ROSC versus No-ROSC subjects (p  less then  0.01) after 10 min of CPR. Change in [HbO2] of + 1.3 µmol/L from 1-min of CPR achieved the highest weighted Youden index (0.96) for ROSC prediction. We demonstrate feasibility of quantitative, non-invasive FD-DOS neuromonitoring, and stable, specific, early ROSC prediction from the third minute of CPR.The present study aims at developing PGMD (poly-glycerol-malic acid-dodecanedioic acid)/curcumin nanoparticles based formulation for anticancer activity against breast cancer cells. The nanoparticles were prepared using both the variants of PGMD polymer (PGMD 73 and PGMD 64) with curcumin (i.e. CUR NP 73 and CUR NP 64). The size of CUR NP 73 and CUR NP 64 were found to be ~ 110 and 218 nm with a polydispersity index of 0.174 and 0.36, respectively. Further, the zeta potential of the particles was - 18.9 and - 17.5 mV for CUR NP 73 and CUR NP 64, respectively. The entrapment efficiency of both the nanoparticles was in the range of 75-81%. National surveys have been performed by the government but had poor coverage in east Malaysia, particularly in rural regions. This study aimed to describe the achievement of target therapeutic outcomes in the control of diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HPT), and dyslipidemia (DLP) among diabetic patients in rural east Malaysia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among DM patients who visited the NCDs clinic in Lundu Hospital, Sarawak, Malaysia, from Jan to March 2016. In total, 214 patients (male, 37.9%; female, 62.1%) were recruited using a systemic sampling method. Multiple logistic regression models were applied to estimate the adjusted odds ratio (AOR) and confidence interval (CI) for the target therapeutic achievement in the control of DM, HPT, and DLP. Compared to the national average, therapeutic target achievement in Lundu was higher for DM (43.0% vs. 23.8%), equal for DLP (35.8% vs. 37.8%) but lower for HPT (30.9% vs. 47.9%). DM patients who had at least yearly HbA1c monitoring (AOR 2.30, 95% CI 1.04-5.06, P = 0.039), and those 58.7 years or older (AOR 2.50, 95% CI 1.32-4.74, P = 0.005) were more likely to achieve the therapeutic target for DM. Health promotion and public education regarding HPT needs to be emphasized in rural Malaysia. HbA1c monitoring at least once a year was one of the important factors associated with achieving DM control in rural east Malaysia. Accessibility to HbA1c tests and monitoring should be ensured for diabetic patients.Currently, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) constitute an interesting field of study in medicine, catalysis, optics, among others. For this reason, it has been necessary to develop new methodologies that allow a more efficient production of AgNPs with better antimicrobial and biological properties. The progress of the reaction was monitored using visible UV-Vis spectroscopy and the synthesized AgNPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared radiation (FTIR) spectroscopy. The best synthetic properties were found at 1 mM of AgNO3 concentration, growth time of 8 days, and reaction time of 144 h.
