Phase engineering of the electrode materials in terms of designing heterostructures, introducing heteroatom and defects, improves great prospects in accelerating the charge storage kinetics during the repeated Li+ /Na+ insertion/deintercalation. Herein, a new design of Li/Na-ion battery anodes through phase regulating is reported consisting of F-doped SnO2 -SnS2 heterostructure nanocrystals with oxygen/sulfur vacancies (VO /VS ) anchored on a 2D sulfur/nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide matrix (F-SnO2-x -SnS2-x @N/S-RGO). Consequently, the F-SnO2-x -SnS2-x @N/S-RGO anode demonstrates superb high reversible capacity and long-term cycling stability. Moreover, it exhibits excellent great rate capability with 589 mAh g-1 for Li+ and 296 mAh g-1 at 5 A g-1 for Na+ . The enhanced Li/Na storage properties of the nanocomposites are not only attributed to the increase in conductivity caused by VO /VS and F doping (confirmed by DFT calculations) to accelerate their charge-transfer kinetics but also the increased interaction between F-SnO2-x -SnS2-x and Li/Na through heterostructure. Meanwhile, the hierarchical F-SnO2-x -SnS2-x @N/S-RGO network structure enables fast infiltration of electrolyte and improves electron/ion transportation in the electrode, and the corrosion resistance of F doping contributes to prolonged cycle stability.
The objective of this study is to describe and understand the experiences of sexuality amongst heterosexual women with morbid obesity (MO) who are in a bariatric surgery program.
Morbid obesity is a chronic, metabolic disease that affects women’s physical, psychological and sexual health. MO is associated with anxiety, depression and body image disorders. Bariatric surgery is a reliable method for weight loss in people with MO.
A qualitative descriptive study research design was adopted.
Twenty-one heterosexual women with MO in a bariatric surgery program were recruited through purposive sampling. Data collection included individual semi-structured interviews conducted between November 2018 and May 2019. Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed using a computer-assisted qualitative data.
Three main themes emerged from the analysis (1) trapped in a body that limits my sexuality; (2) between neglect and hope and (3) the partner as a source of support for sexuality in women witBariatric nurses have a privileged position to assess these women’s sexuality, recommend alternatives to sexual intercourse or refer them to sexologists. As part of the multidisciplinary team, nurses can contribute to managing the expectations of women with MO and their partners in relation to the improvement of their sex lives following bariatric surgery. The stems of Nauclea officinalis have been utilized as a crude drug in China, so other parts of the plant are abandoned, resulting in a waste of traditional Chinese medicine resources. To determine the distribution and content of the alkaloids, phenolic acids and iridoid in different organs (stem, branch, leaf and bark) of this plant, a reliable method has been established using LC-MS/MS. Nine constituents, namely strictosamide, vincosamide, chlorogenic acid, sweroside, naucleamide B, protocatechuic acid, pumiloside, vanillic acid and cryptochlorogenic acid, were simultaneously determined in 6 min. Meanwhile, the antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities were evaluated for comparative analysis of the pharmacological activity of different parts of N. officinalis. The results showed that the content of active components in other organs of N. officinalis was higher than that in stems, and the pharmacological effects of branches and leaves were also better. The established approach could be helpful for the quality control of N. officinalis, and also provide necessary information for the rational utilization of resources.
The objectives of this study were to bring the experience of the transitioning process for the transgender population to the nursing profession and address the lack of knowledge to promote improved patient outcomes.
This study used a narrative review using the literature matrix method. Because of the dearth of trans specific literature, editorials and monologues were included.
A broad search was undertaken across all databases including CINAHL, PubMed, PsycINFO, Ovid MEDLINE, ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health and Google Scholar. Literature from June 1994 to May 2020 was appraised. Non-peer reviewed literature and published texts were procured via Google Alerts.
Selection for inclusion was based on credibility and relevance from a variety of social science disciplines. A narrative analysis was used to identify common themes, incongruencies in schools of thought and perspectives that require consideration.
Analysis of the literature revealed the following themes (a) literature and terminology evolu literature and lack of consistency in the literature about the understanding of the transitioning process for the transgender population. Main findings? Terminology to explain the transitioning process is ever evolving. IPI549 Future studies about transitioning need to go beyond the medical lens. Generational views differ in the approach to transitioning, and there are needs unique to this population required during the process. Where and whom will the research impact? The review has significant implications for change in health delivery, nursing policy and formulating nursing practice and education to improve trans competent care.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), associated with increased mortality in surgical patients. It is well-proven that Th17 and its hallmark cytokine, IL-17, contribute to AKI development. Since the RAR-related orphan receptor C (RORC) gene is a master regulator of the Th17 differentiation, we aimed to evaluate the association between its polymorphisms, CPB-AKI and plasma IL-17 levels among Iranian patients undergoing CPB.
Totally, 138 patients undergoing CPB in Bandar Abbas, Iran, were enrolled. The allele and genotype frequencies of the selected SNPs were determined using PCR-SSP. IL-17 serum level was determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
Rs9017 GG genotype and G allele were associated with increased risk of CPB-AKI (OR=3, 95% CI=1.4-6.6 and OR=2.3, 95% CI=1.3-3.9, respectively) while A allele was protective against the disease (OR=0.4, 95% CI=0.3-0.7, p=.02). There was not a statistically significant interaction between the three genotypes of rs9017 and AKI disease with IL-17 serum level before (p=.
