The gold standard treatment for Uretero-Pelvic Junction Obstruction (UPJO) is laparoscopic dismembered pyeloplasty according to the Anderson-Hynes technique. The internal Double-J ureteral (DJ) and the Externalized PyeloUreteral (EPU) stents are usually the drainage of choice. Only a few articles have compared the clinical impact of the different drainage techniques on the perioperative morbidity and none presented a cost analysis of the incurred hospital stay.
To present the clinical outcome and financial analysis of a cohort of children who underwent a laparoscopic pyeloplasty comparing the use of the DJ versus EPU stent.
Retrospective study of consecutives children who underwent laparoscopic Anderson-Hynes pyeloplasty in a single tertiary paediatric referral centre from January 2017 to March 2020. Patients were grouped according to the type of stent used DJ stent vs EPU stent.
Fifty-three laparoscopic pyeloplasties were performed on 51 patients 27 (50.9%) had an EPU stent and 26 (49.1%) a DJ stent.ding, leakage or discomfort. In addition to clinical considerations, there is a financial implication to be considered. With this regard, the EPU stent was associated with a significant reduction in the incurred hospital costs.
The use of DJ and EPU stents is equivalent in regards of overall complications and success rates. DJ and EPU stents provided comparable success and complication rates, however the latter avoids the need of an additional general anaesthesia and reduces the overall incurred hospital costs.

Torsion of an undescended testis (UT) is a surgical emergency, difficult to diagnose, whose prognosis depends on a quick management.
To evaluate the management and outcome of these patients.
We retrospectively analyzed all cases of UT torsion operated in nine French hospitals between 1997 and 2017. We divided patients in two groups patients referred less than 6h after the onset of symptoms (group A) or more than 6h (group B).
We collected 60 cases (17 in group A and 43 in group B). Median age was 2.2 years [IQR=0.7-7.8] (2.3y in group A and 2y in group B, p=0.76). Eleven patients (10 in group B) had neurological disorders (p=0.15). The main reason for absence of UT treatment was the absence of surgical consultation in a normal delay (n=44, 73%). Symptoms were pain (n=58, 97%), inguinal mass (n=55, 92%) and vomiting (n=16, 27%). see more An inguinal mass with no palpable testis in the ipsilateral hemiscrotum was seen in 55 patients (92%). An ultrasound scan performed in 27 patients led to the diagnosis in 16 paagnosis in front of a painful inguinal mass with an empty scrotum is essential to improve the salvage rate of testis in UT torsion. Early management of UT should have avoided 68% of testis loss.

To assess the status of the sexual education approach with spina bifida (SB) patients.
An online survey was sent to 223 pediatric urologists from Latin countries, all contacted using email or mobile messaging software. There were 12 questions about participants’ demographic characteristics and SB-specific care topics. Data was collected from January 2019 to January 2020. Checklist for reporting results of internet e-survey (CHERRIES) guidelines were followed to ensure the quality of this study.
We received 101 valid answers from participants practicing in seven different countries. Among these, 98.4% confirmed that sexuality in the SB population is considered relevant, nevertheless it is only evaluated by 62.5%. Transitional urologists discuss sexuality more often than those whose practice consists solely of pediatric patients (70% vs. 50%). Basic surgeon training (urologist vs. pediatric surgeon), age, part or full-time pediatric urology practice and country of participants were of no statistically different influence inrates of approach to sexuality.
Our study demonstrates that pediatric urologists are insufficiently addressing sexuality in SB patients. Those who practise transitional urology show higher rates of approach to sexuality with SB patients, which suggests this is an important model of care.

This study’s primary objective was to evaluate the impact of a pharmacist-led educational program on undergraduate college students’ knowledge about PrEP.
This was a cross-sectional, pre- and postprogram survey study. The study included undergraduate students at least 18 years old at a university in Washington, DC. Graduate students, pharmacy students, and those not enrolled at the university were excluded. Before the educational program, the participants completed an anonymous preprogram survey to assess their perception and knowledge of HIV prevention and PrEP as well as their willingness to obtain a prescription for PrEP. A pharmacist delivered a 30-minute educational program to students regarding HIV prevention and PrEP in small groups. After the program, the participants completed a postprogram survey to evaluate the changes from the baseline responses. Paired t tests and chi-square tests detected the associations between the pre- and postprogram surveys.
One-hundred sixteen students participated ists’ PrEP initiatives in this targeted population. In this study, 5-methoxy-2-mercaptobenzimidazole (5-M-2-MB) was confirmed as an efficient tyrosinase inhibitor by methods of enzyme kinetic, fluorescence quenching, ANS-binding, thermodynamics, energy transfer, and molecular docking in combination. The results proved that 5-M-2-MB significantly inhibited the tyrosinase (IC50 = 60 ± 2 nM) in a reversible and competitive way with the Ki value of 80 ± 1 nM. It quenched the intrinsic fluorescence of tyrosinase through a static mechanism, and caused conformational change of the enzyme by increasing the hydrophobic region. Moreover, this compound could bind to tyrosinase and form 5-M-2-MB-tyrosinase complex by hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interaction. The interactions were generated between 5-M-2-MB and specific amino acid residues (Trp-358, Thr-308, Glu-356, and Asp-357) located on the A chain of tyrosinase. Therefore, this study would offer a theoretical foundation for developing the new tyrosinase inhibitor.
