What is a game slot
A game slot punch is a tool that creates an oblong hole into a laminated or rigid material. Standard slot dimensions are 1/8″ x 5/8″, which can accommodate various straps, clips and other attachments. These are often used to create ID cards, badges and luggage tags. The slot allows them easy hanging from standard lanyard attachments.
There are two types of slot punches: one for hand and one for tabletop. The single-punch capability varies depending on the thickness of the material being punched. Some stores sell pre-slotted pouch sizes, which are usually sizes for Luggage Tags and Military Cards. However, it is easy to make your own pouches. Slot punches can be used in a similar way to traditional hole punches. The pouch is placed inside the punch’s mouth and gently pressed by hand until it pushes through the material. Although the operation of tabletop punches is different from hand-held punches, they have a greater punching power and a larger handle that allows for more leverage.
You can make laminating pouches before or after you laminate. However, it is essential that the slot has a 1/8 inch border all around to ensure a good seal. The game slot should be punched through the paper you are laminating. Moisture can seep into the pouch, eventually leading to the film layers separating. The maximum insert size for the slot will be smaller than the pouch without a border. A 3″ x 4 laminating pouch will have a 2-3/4″x 3-3/4″ maximum insert, which allows for 1/8″ border across all sides. The maximum insert size for a slot placed on the 3″ side will be 2-1/2″ x3-3/4″. This allows for the 1/8 inch border above and below the slot, as well as the slot’s 1/8 inch height.
